Today, I began my Scratch hide and seek project. I spent some time brainstorming ideas for the game, including the setting, characters, and gameplay mechanics. The setting I chose is a rough landscape, as I found it to be an interesting and challenging location for the players to find the hider. I also imagined how the game should look to get a better idea of how everything will fit together. For the characters, I decided to use simple cartoonish figures to make the game more appealing for children.
I spent the week working on the design of the game, including creating the backgrounds and characters in Scratch. I used the built-in art tools in Scratch to create the backgrounds, like the park, playground, and other features in the park. For the characters, I decided to make some custom designs of scratch characters from default models because some of the the models did not look good enough or had limited capabilities.
I spent a lot of time making sure that the characters were detailed and expressive. I spent this week continuing to work on the code for the game, including implementing the hiding and seeking mechanics. I focused on making the hiding and seeking mechanics as smooth and intuitive as possible. I also started testing the game to see how it plays and to identify any bugs or issues.
Through the playtesting, I found that the game was too easy as the computer player was always hiding at the same spot. To add some more challenge, I decided to randomly generate the hiding spot for the computer player each round. I spent this week refining the game, including fixing any bugs that I discovered during testing. I also added some new sprites that the computer could hide behind such as trees, rocks and bushes.
The try counter was also implemented, this allows the player to only try 4 times before they lose. This added more of a challenge to the game and made it more fun to play. I spent this week focusing on the website that I am creating to document my project. I started by creating a basic layout and design for the site, and then began adding content such as descriptions of the game, screenshots, and videos of gameplay. I was careful to make the website visually pleasing and easy to navigate, as well as adding some useful pictures.
I spent this week continuing to work on the website, including adding more content and refining the design. I also started on the my PBL page and finished it and started work on my brochure. I added some information about the project and the process of how I made it. Additionally, I also added some information about what I learned and some tips for other people who are interested in creating a similar project.
I spent this week continuing to work on the game and the website. I made some final tweaks to the game to polish it up, and I also added a section to the website with instructions for how to play the game. I made sure the instructions were easy to understand and included screenshots to help people understand how the code works.
I spent this week finalizing the website and preparing to share the project with others. I made sure that all the information on the website was accurate and up-to-date. I also did a final test run of the game to ensure it was functioning properly. Once I was satisfied that everything was ready, I added a few more finishing touches to the website such as adding images and videos that showcase the game and its features.
This week I shared my website with friends and helped them access it. I also allowed them to see into the code so that they could identify any bugs that I may have. Some of them could not access the game so I had to help the. They gave my valuable feedback that i will use to improve my game. This week, I focused on gathering feedback from the people I shared my project with. I received a lot of useful suggestions and comments, both positive and negative
I took the time to carefully read through all of the feedback and made notes of the suggestions that I thought would be most beneficial for the game. Some of the feedback I received was related to the difficulty of the game, some people found it too hard and others found it too easy. I also received some feedback related to the design of the website, some people found it confusing to navigate. I also received information from my teacher that was used to further improve my website.
I spent this week implementing the changes I had identified based on the feedback I received. I also received information from my teacher that was used to further improve my website. The game's difficulty was not changes as the amount of people who found it hard and the people who found it easy were balanced. The website design was changed slightly, ensuring that it was more user-friendly and easier to understand.
Once I was satisfied that the project was in its best possible form, I submitted it for review. I'm excited to see what others think of my Scratch hide and seek game and website, and I'm looking forward to getting some feedback and suggestions for future improvements.
This week I spent some time reflecting on the entire project, thinking about what I did well and what I could have done better. This will be useful for me for future projects.
