Gordon Bourns grew up working weekends and summers at the family business, Bourns, Inc., which his parents, Marlan and Rosemary Bourns founded in their Pasadena garage in 1947. He received a BS degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of California, Irvine and an MBA in Finance and Marketing from the University of California, Los Angeles before he became a Bourns employee in 1973. During his 46-year career with Bourns, he has held positions in sales, marketing, engineering, quality assurance and manufacturing, as well as general management. He was elected Chairman of the Board in December 1988 by the Company’s Board of Directors and was elected President in 1990.
Gordon is committed to giving back to the community of Riverside a portion of the many benefits he, his family and Bourns, Inc. have received from it. He is a champion of STEM education (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math), serving as the President of STEP (Science & Technology Education Partnership), a consortium of Inland Southern California educators, business leaders and government officials, whose annual two-day STEP Conference piques the interest of 5,000 K-12 students in STEM careers. STEP also offers three week-long STEM Summer Learning Labs providing experiential learning about good STEM careers in our community.
Gordon is greatly blessed in his 41-year marriage to his wife, Jill. Together they are the proud parents of four children and active grandparents of six grandchildren.
Deputy Chief Assumma has over 38 years in the Riverside Police Department. In August 1985, he was hired by the Riverside Police Department and graduated from the Riverside County Sheriff’s 99th Basic Police Academy on December 13, 1985. He spent six years as an officer in Patrol and was promoted to the rank of detective in July 1994. In March 2001 he was promoted to the rank of sergeant and in June 2014 he was promoted to Lieutenant. In June 2017 he was promoted to Captain. He was ultimately promoted to Deputy Chief in March 2021. He has worked in Field Operations as an officer, Field Training Officer, Watch Commander and the Commander of the Division. He has also worked in the Gang Unit as a detective and Sergeant and was the Commander of the Riverside/Jurupa Valley Regional Gang Task Force as a sergeant. As a sergeant he also worked in the Personnel Unit and Internal Affairs. He was also in charge of the Centralized Investigations Bureau as a Lieutenant and eventually the Commander of the Investigations Division as a Captain. He is currently the Deputy Chief of Operations.
Fire Chief Michael Moore has been with the City of Riverside Fire Department for the last 7 years. Chief Moore began his career as a firefighter with the Orange County Fire Authority in 1982. He promoted through the ranks to the Fire Chief of the City of Irvine. Chief Moore holds a Master's Degree in Public Administration from CSU Long Beach, and a Bachelor's Degree in Management from Redlands University. He is also a graduate of the National Fire Academy Executive Fire Officer Program.
Senior Science Consultant, Logos Education Systems - Henri supports various California Education Initiatives that include segments related to the Science Assessment with the California Department of Education. Henri also has contributed and helped many of the NGSS State Rollout sessions across the state. Currently, he is a member of various state and international committees such as the California STEM Symposium, ISEF, STEP, CASE, ASTE, to mention a few. He supports multiple county offices, districts and schools across the state and many other projects across the nation

Eric Wertman has been with City of Riverside Fire Department close to 5 years. He started his fire and life safety career in the private sector working on fire alarm and fire sprinkler systems in 2012. He was then hired with the city as a Fire Inspector in 2018 and promoted to Fire Plan Check Engineer at the beginning of 2023. Eric Wertman’s role with the city helps developers and builders understand the requirements the fire department has for new construction.
