Unit Modifications
STEM Careers of Women and Men Role Models Unit
Teaching Timeline
The STEM Careers of Women and Men Role Models Unit is designed to be taught in the classroom setting over the course of about one month. Teachers can differentiate the teaching of the unit by:
Teaching the unit in more time. The lessons can take more than one day to implement and/or days between lessons can be added.
Picking and choosing specific lessons or modules from the unit to teach. The lessons and lesson modules can be taught separately, with teachers choosing specific lessons or lesson modules for their students' individual wants and needs.
Distance Learning Adaptations
In our current educational setting, the STEM Careers of Women and Men Role Models Unit can be adapted for online learning.
The lesson materials are all included and can be accessed through links on the internet.
The lesson experiments and activities only use everyday materials or can be accessed through links on the internet.
A STEM role model could still chat with students over a whole-class video chat.
Students could still research a STEM role model and give a short presentation on video chat.
Grade Level Modifications
The STEM Careers of Women and Men Role Models Unit is designed at the 4th grade level, but can easily be adapted for younger or older students.
Younger students: Teach lessons at a slower pace, define unfamiliar words, provide more assistance in individual activities.
Older students: Teach lessons at a quicker pace, ask extra thought provoking questions, give students more independence in individual activities.
