STEM Careers of Women and Men Role Models Unit

Section 3 of the STEM Careers of Women and Men Role Models Unit is a

 “Living Museum” final project  

Each student will be assigned a STEM role model to research, will create a poster about their role model, and dress up and present as their role model in a “Living Museum” presentation.  

The objective of this “Living Museum” final project is to get students to envision themselves in a STEM career, by learning about and relating to influential STEM women and men's achievements, struggles, and personal life.


Steps to follow for teaching the final project.   It includes when and how to introduce the project to students,  a follow-up meeting with students to check on research progress, and the format for the “Living Museum” presentations.


List of 20 STEM role models that can be assigned to students.  The role models vary in age, time frame, gender, and cover a wide range of STEM careers.


Graphic organizer handout for students that lists the questions students need to answer about their assigned STEM role model.  These research questions will be the basis of information that will be turned into students' final poster for the "Living Museum" presentation.


Grading guidelines for the final project.   It details the requirements and expectations for the “Living Museum” presentation in categories such as poster design, costume, and role model information.
