A story is improved significantly with a powerful photo. The photographs I have taken to accompany my stories aim to bring depth to the individuals and events covered. As with many aspects pertaining to my journalistic work, producing quality captions took practice. Below are examples of photographs and captions from my first year on Padua360's staff.

After I spent a significant amount of time browsing other high school newspapers, I began to grasp to a greater degree what makes a good caption. As editor-in-chief, I worked to ensure that my captions and those of my staffers provided visual and additional context. Because I was able to reflect on my work, my captions improved significantly. Below are examples of such photos and their captions.
A vigil was held on the steps of Memorial Hall at the University of Delaware for the victims of the Pittsburgh shooting. Community members came with signs and held candles.
On the right side of the altar stands a statue of Mary. It is called the Shrine to Our Lady of the Miraculous Medal, and according to DeSantis, brides have traditionally laid bouquets on it during their weddings.
