Gracie!!
I know it has been some time since you heard from me. I had quite the adventure over in Japan. As I was leaving, my flight was delayed due to weather and the turn events just kept on. I was trying to get ahold of you because I wanted to update you on my next place of adventure. I am actually in the last place right now! It is:
ITALYYYY!
As you know, I think I have fallen in love with Takeo. He told me he wanted to move to the U.S. and continue our relationship so YAY! I am very excited, and he will be on my flight home from Italy with me (he is meeting me here two days). I also took a few days to visit France because my flight connected through there. I did not see but ONE cat. I am not sure why but after the incident in Japan, I needed a break. I took one selfie because I can only imagine how much you loved my last one on the great wall ;-)
I chose to stay with another bed and breakfast style home because families are a HUGE part of the culture in Italy. The people over here have mastered living, it is beautiful. The place I was staying said that everyone helps to take part in cleaning and cooking at this bed and breakfast. (Why did no one make a comment about this on their yelp review?).
The second day in Italy; I was very jet wagged. I wanted to relax and spend my day hanging around the house. This is not what the owners had planned. They told me I need to help clean up because they were hosting a gathering soon. I had the choice of cooking the food or cleaning the house. I decided I would clean for an hour then finish my relaxing day. This did not go over well with the owners. I left in frustration and went to find a local place to eat. While I was there on my way, a lynx approached me. The animals are in the cat family and I have never had the chance to see one before.
“Hey there, you look lost. What are you looking for?” said this short tailed- long whiskered lynx.
I told the cat that my host family was not happy with me and I was on the hunt for some food.
The cat replied “My family also neglected me because I am no longer useful to them. I decided I would head to the city to start a band; it was always my dream. Want to join?”
I hesitantly responded “sure?”. I had no idea what I was getting myself into, but this lynx seemed way nicer than anyone I had met in Italy yet.
I did make sure we grabbed some scones before we started on our journey. Along the way we found three members for this new band, a donkey, koala, and a bluebird.
Before we knew it, the sun was setting, and we were still a few blocks out from the city. We decided to take a rest for the night until the bluebird said he saw the first house in the city. As we made our way to the house, I could see something suspicious. It looked as though the house was vacant but there were robbers inside.
I FREAKED out. Without Takeo with me I felt unsafe. The lynx decided to go scare the robbers off by banging on the windows. It ACTUALLY worked. This lynx has been the nicest most helpful cat I have encountered. We then decided that we would claim the house for the night and the morning so that we could work out our band details.
Falling soundly asleep in this nice warm home, I heard a tree branch fall outside of the window. I woke up the others because something seemed off.
The robbers were BACK! Oh no, just when I thought I was finely safe. Before all of us could come up with a game plan, the lynx impulsively went outside to them. I for one was not about to try to fight off these robbers. I have had my fair share of fighting throughout my past 2 trips I do NOT want to be involved in this.
The lynx made up some crazy story about ghosts and witches that haunt this house. He explained that the people that lived here before left all of their stuff because the witch was out for blood. The robbers screamed like little babies and ran.
Side note: While the cat was telling this story, I was mind blown that the robbers were listening. If roles were reversed, I would NEVER believe a silly story like that. But whatever, I’m glad it went well.
The house was now all for us. I think the best part about this whole experience was that it was nothing like the other locations. I met great friends, one of which was a CAT. Who would’ve thought? Since Takeo was not flying in for two days, the band let me join in their first few performances in the city. It was great, we had a HUGE crowd, I wish you could have been there Gracie :(
Anyways, I will be leaving my trip around the world a little earlier than planned. The time has flown by with all these different places. I also want to make it back in time for Thanksgiving and your Graduation!! Since Italy is my last place of travel, the next time I will be in contact with you is at the airport. YAY! This trip has been more than great, and I can’t wait to give you all the details in person.
Woof,
Stella
Here is my sweet self and my handsome bf Takeo ;-)
Author's Note: The original story is The Three Musicians from the Fairtytales by Brothers Grimm. It is about a donkey that is getting too old to care for and the owner does not find him useful anymore. The donkey sets out to the town to pursue his love of music. On his journey he finds a dog that has grown too old to hunt and asks him if he wants to be a musician with him. The dog agrees and they set out. They then come across a cat that has also become too old to hunt, this cat joins the team. They then have a rooster that joins the musician team. When night came, they found themselves looking at a house with robbers inside. They scared the robbers away and went into the house. There, they went to sleep after preparing for the robbers to come back. When the robbers came back they told them of a scary witch that haunts this house and they should not live there. This frightened the robbers and they left for good. The animals ended up enjoying the house so much they made it their own.
I wanted to make this story fit into my storybook by changing up the characters to Stella (obviously), a lynx, a koala, a bluebird and a donkey. All of these animals are found in Italy so I thought that would be very fitting. Since this is my last story, I also wanted to wrap it up by Stella making her way back home.
