Our Data Vision: Making the Invisible, Visible
For decades, women with severe pregnancy nausea and Hyperemesis Gravidarum have been dismissed, untreated, and overlooked by the medical system. Many never receive even the most basic lab work (except what's legally required by the state during pregnancy), and the biological patterns behind this condition remain largely unstudied.
At Stella Maris, we believe the first step toward better care is better information.
What We Aim to Do
With clear, voluntary, opt-in consent, we will collect anonymized lab trends from women who undergo in-home blood testing through our partnerships. No identifying information will ever be stored or shared.
Our goal is simple:
To identify common deficiencies, abnormalities, or early biological markers among women with severe pregnancy nausea so future women can receive earlier and more effective intervention.
Why This Matters
Currently, there is no standardized early intervention pathway for severe pregnancy nausea. Many of the women most at risk are too sick to leave home, too malnourished to advocate for themselves, or too overwhelmed to navigate the healthcare system.
By responsibly gathering and analyzing anonymized data, we hope to:
• Highlight trends providers should be aware of
• Encourage earlier labs
• Support future clinical research
• Build the foundation for more effective early-intervention models
We are not creating medical protocols but rather laying the groundwork for researchers and clinicians to better understand this underserved population.
Our Commitment
We are committed to transparency, privacy, and ethical use of data. Participation in this project will always be voluntary, and data will always be de-identified.
Together, we can make invisible suffering visible and build a better future for the next generation of mothers.
