With shifting global economic dynamics and a slowdown in growth and productivity, Europe faces significant and complex challenges in improving its international competitiveness, strengthening economic resilience, reducing dependencies, and responding effectively to external shocks, including geopolitical conflicts and climate change. GLOBAL-EU builds on the increasing need for a comprehensive understanding of Europe's role in fostering competitiveness and sustainable growth within a globalised world by integrating academic research, policy engagement, outreach, and cross-border collaboration. GLOBAL-EU promotes three key objectives: 1) Offering innovative and applied teaching courses that combine theory and practice through dynamic modelling simulations, policy evaluations, and transnational comparative analyses, fostering an interactive learning environment. Tailored study excursions to European Institutions enable students to engage directly with EU policymakers, gaining real-world insights into applied EU policy work. 2) Generating knowledge through evidence-based research to provide robust and policy-relevant insights into the diverse contexts of EA Member States and transnational global challenges. Collaborations with EU institutions and international universities provide valuable perspectives, foster political and economic dialogue, and enhance the practical impact of the research. 3) Promoting dialogue between academia and the broader society through virtual webinar series, interactive school lectures, and teacher workshops. These outreach activities aim to raise awareness of EU values, foster civic engagement, address misconceptions about EU policies, and build public trust in the EU and its shared principles.
