We competed in our first competition of the 2023 season! Overall, the competition was a great success and a perfect bonding opportunity for the team. We’ve been making excellent progress as the Steel Talons!
Despite the little preparation we were able to get prior to the competition, we kicked off the qualification matches with a great start. We rotated through members in the pit so that everyone could get a chance at being a part of the competing team. We may not have had the loudest chants, but our team spirit was definitely there! Go HAWKS!
We were chosen by teams 1319 and 342 to join the 5th alliance! As an alliance, we were able to make it to the semifinals. We thank them so much for their gracious professionalism and their teamwork. We couldn’t have asked for a better team!
In between matches and sleeping, the Steel Talons took the time to strengthen our friendships. We had a team dinner at Chili’s after Saturday’s matches where we learned a lot more about each other. Our main driver, Bobby, was able to catch a quick nap!
We placed 20th out of 27 teams and 5th as an alliance. We are so proud of the progress we have made during this competition. We’re currently in the process of making adjustments and improvements for our Gwinnett competition. Stay tuned to see if we make it to state competition!
The Steel Talons would also like to thank our sponsors for the 2023 season. Without them, we would not have been able to get to this point in the season! Thank you to the Gene Haas Foundation, Dental Now 14, and Gwinnett County Public Schools.
