Introduction

The STEAM-H Competence map identifies the competencies acquirable by students involved in STEAM activities and can be used by teachers as a guiding tool to plan multi-disciplinary STEAM activities based on the subject and the competencies to be achieved by the students.

The objective is to define the potential of the Steam approach in fostering inclusion processes and map how this methodology can be used to engage and motivate primary school students toward STEM subjects in the partner countries.

The core information needed to create your own competence map with some examples are included in the Chapter 5. If you already know what Steam methodology is and you have some experience in implementing steam-based activities you can directly jump to that chapter.

The other chapters will give you an overview of what the Steam methodology is, its benefits and the transversal competences achievable with it. This will give you a framework for the analysis of the competences achievable with this methodology.

This competence map can be useful in two main different scenarios of use:

1. You can start from the analysis of the competences you want your students to achieve, creating a competence map based on which to design your own Steam activity or

2. You can start from an already existing activity, mapping the achievable competences to modify and adapt the activity to your context and objectives.
