About

S. Parisa Daj. is a second-year Ph.D. candidate in Computer Engineering at the University of Memphis. She is currently doing her research at the Computational Imaging Research Laboratory (CIRL) concentrating on three parallel projects:

1. Structured Illumination Microscopy (SIM) simulation in collaboration with the University of Valencia, Spain.

2. SIM image reconstruction using physics-guided deep learning methods.

3. Vertically Integrated Project Program mentoring undergraduate students to engage in research.

She has completed her undergraduate degree in Electrical Engineering, minor in Control Engineering at Amirkabir University of Technology (Tehran Polytechnic), Iran. As an undergraduate, she was the leader of the Electronics group in the Parsian Research Laboratory helping with designing small-sized soccer robots for International RoboCup champions. She spent her internship designing and programming an electronic board for a quadcopter. Then, she joined the Control of Multi-Vehicle Systems Laboratory (CMVS) to complete her BSc thesis: “Indoor Autonomous Landing of a Quad-rotor with Video Processing”. Meanwhile, she was able to achieve a grant from the Presidential Scientific and Technological Vice-Presidency by submitting a proposal for the big picture project of the lab: “Design an autonomous quad-copter with auto-charge to increase flight time for inspection of transmission lines”.

During studying at college and after graduation, Parisa has been teaching Computer Programming for almost 8 years at schools dependent on the national organization for the development of exceptional talents (NODET). After graduation, she worked as the team leader in the robotics group of Part AI Research Center. Almost at the same time, she was introduced to the international event “Neuromatch Academy”, an online event for learning about computational neuroscience, and after participating in one event, she became a TA the year after in the summer school, where she found interest in medical imaging applications.
