Learning extends beyond the classroom through engaging, topical weekly themes that connect lessons to real-world topics.
Week 1: Inventors & Innovators
Curiosity and imagination will be at the forefront as our students dive into the world of great ideas and discoveries. Through creative projects and teamwork, they’ll explore how inventions have shaped our lives, linking to subjects like science, history, and design. Using English to share and present their own bright ideas, students will build confidence while thinking like the inventors of the future.
Week 2: Food for thought
This week blends curiosity about food with big ideas to get our students thinking in new ways. From dinner party guests and their dietary requirements to favourite dishes and global food traditions, students will explore connections between cuisine and wider themes such as science, culture, and philosophy through puzzles, debates, and thought-provoking questions. Using English to explore, discuss, and present, they’ll gain confidence while feeding both their minds and their imaginations.
Week 3: Once Upon a Time
Stories come alive as our students step into the world of heroes, adventures, and magical places. Connected to literature, history, and art, students will create their own tales, bring characters to life, and share their stories in English. Along the way, they’ll grow their imagination, teamwork, and confidence as young storytellers. In the city of Tolkien, CS Lewis and Philip Pullman inspiration should never be far away…
Week 4: Play the Game
Roll the dice to see where you land in our week of board games and sports, this week celebrates play, teamwork, and strategy. Our students will explore connections to maths, physical education, and design as they invent their own games and put their skills into practice. Using English to explain rules, share ideas, and support each other, they’ll build confidence while having fun.
Week 5: Our Changing Planet
Students take on the role of explorers and problem-solvers as they learn about nature, climate, and the environment. Linking to geography, science, and citizenship, this week encourages students to think about how our choices shape the world. Through projects and discussions, they’ll use English to share solutions and grow as eco-leaders of the future.
Week 6: That's a Wrap!
The spotlight is on our students this week as they step into the world of film and media. Connected to art, literature, and technology, students will script, perform, and present their own mini productions. Using English to tell stories on screen, they’ll gain confidence, creativity, and teamwork skills — all while having fun behind (and in front of) the camera.
