Laziness is the result of defeat as human beings subject to sin, but it also counts as one of the seven deadly sins, which in the worst case leads to “indolence”, also known as the "spleen" in the Decadentists, the melancholy in Baudelaire's "Les fleurs du mal".
Also, laziness can also lead to a waking state that does not end with sleep but can lead to "sleepiness", which has a more negative connotation because it evades reality and inclines us to the fantasy of that which is impossible or forbidden.
But on the other hand, the Italian expression of "Il dolce far niente" gives less importance to the severity of the judgment, calling for a "deserved" and profitable laziness. That laziness which leads to contemplative life and the opportunity to reach into our innermost self, whom we do not listen to because we are too rushed, and make us quiet.
