It has been more than ten thousand years since the domestic incorporation of animals into our lives, when at some point it was understood how beneficial this relationship could be. The dog will become a symbol of fidelity and will be depicted associated with noble wives, resting on their feet in the medieval tombs. In baroque Europe, possession of a pet, on the other hand, could result in accusations of witchcraft, even more if it the case of a single, poor woman, who would take the non-human form of a cat for their mischiefs.
This identification goes back to the 19th century, when men anxiously see the close relationship between women and felines in domestic space. Prophylactic cats against elusive and capricious mice and companions, versus patient and faithful dogs that accompany so many boring infants to be home. And between them, caged birds and goldfish, in another way -more indifferent- to give us company in our everyday life.
