It's big! I mean Texas big! The Texas State Capitol is the largest state capitol in the U.S. and may have been at the time of its construction the seventh-largest building in the world. Though very untexaslike as it is:

There is a very large painting of the Battle of San Jacinto in the Senate chamber. According to our tour guide, the artist convinced the losing general, Santa Anna, to sit for the painting, by threatening to include him in the painting running away.   


On the spacious grounds is one of the most casted statues ever sculpted: The Hiker by Theo Alice Ruggles Kitson. It features a soldier wearing a campaign hat, and cartridge belt while holding a Krag–Jørgensen rifle. It honors all those that fought in the Spanish–American War, the Boxer Rebellion, and the Philippine–American War.
