Monday:
- Pat Rahmlow presented the requirements for the midterm project progress presentation. We looked at several examples of midterm presentations from previous years.
- Edwin Dauber did a presentation on Multi-author stylometry.
- There is a practice assignment related to stylometry that we will have to complete next week.
Tuesday:
- Due to the fact that we still do not have a dataset to work with, we couldn't perform any tasks directly related to the project. We were trying to investigate various options of getting an appropriate dataset. It turns out that quality datasets cost money (lots of money too!). Our mentor professors were in communication trying to figure out how to proceed.
Wednesday:
- Dr. Popyack shared links to articles about various topics and developments in AI and ML. Discussion and sharing of some of the articles with other research groups.
- I started working on the Jupyter Notebook tutorial.
- I wrote my first Python code! Yay!
- Had a meeting with Dr. Popyack. He introduced a great Data Science Resources website (www.kaggle.com). We found a cardiac patients dataset. The dataset contains only adults records, however we thought that some ML simulations could be run on it. My partner Judith started working on calculating BMI for each patient in the dataset.
- Started working on the Midterm Project Progress presentation.
Thursday:
- Kept working through the Jupyter Notebooks tutorial.
- Worked on Midterm Project Progress presentation
- Spent time investigating Kaggle website and teaching and learning resources available there.
Friday:
- Midterm project progress presentation
- Had the entire team meeting at 15:00. Shivanshi and Dennis reported on their progress with coding.
