Stanislav (Stas) Ostrikov was born in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan, USSR in 1976. In 1991 the Soviet Union collapsed and Turkmenistan became an independent dictatorship with failing economy and less and less freedom every day. So in 1993 at the age of seventeen, accompanied only by a few friends, Stas Ostrikov immigrated to Israel, where he lived until 1999, when he arrived in Philadelphia, USA.
Stas graduated from high school in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. In 1997 he entered Tel Aviv University, majoring in Computer Science. Upon moving to Philadelphia in 1999, Stas transferred all his credits from Tel Aviv University and continued his study of Computer Science at Drexel. He graduated with the BS degree in Computer Science in 2003.
Teaching has always been Stanislav's passion. So right upon completing his Computer Science degree he continued at Drexel, pursuing Masters Degree in Math Education and Curriculum Development. Stas started teaching mathematics in 2004 at Mariana Bracetti Charter School in Kensington area of Philadelphia. In 2007 he graduated from Drexel University with MS in Math Education and Curriculum Development. Stanislav stayed at Bracetti until 2012. From 2012 to 2014 he taught at Freire Charter School. For the past 5 years Stas has been teaching math and computer science at Julia R. Masterman Demonstration and Laboratory school.
