Recommendations are often needed as part of college applications or scholarship applications.
The application may provide instructions about who should write the recommendation or it may simply ask for one or two. Choose teachers, coaches, or other adults who are not relatives and know you very well.
1. Talk to the teacher in person to request a recommendation. You need to do this at least three weeks before the recommendation is due.
2. If the teacher agrees to write a recommendation for you, complete the Teacher Recommendation Request form (make a copy of the attachment) and share your completed form with the teacher. You should do this the same day you ask for the recommendation.
3. Add your request to Naviance.
4. Follow up with an email thanking the teacher for taking time to write your recommendation.
For an electronic version, follow this link to make a copy of the original Google Doc. Add the document to your College folder in your Google Drive. Then you can add your information and edit as necessary.
