Overview

This module introduces a variety of online assessment tools for assessing students' language ability. Teachers identify online formative/summative assessment tools to meet the performance objectives.

Types of Assessment

Formative Assessment

  • Refer to assessments that provide information to students and teachers that is used to improve teaching and learning. These are often informal and ongoing.

Summative Assessment

  • Refers to cumulative assessments, usually occurring at the end of a unit or topic coverage, that intend to capture what a student has learned, or the quality of the learning, and judge performance against some standard.

    • Go to http://www.classtools.net/education-games-php/venn_intro and choose 2-circle to create your own Venn-Diagram.
    • Name your Venn-Diagram and set up the Categories as "Formative Assessment" and "Summative Assessment".
    • Put 2-3 Technology Assessment Tools in each category.
    • Share your Venn-Diagram by clicking on the gear symbol to get the URL.

Data Driven Instruction

Data Driven Instruction is a cycle that is based on student assessment data results and plan instruction. It includes assessment, analysis, reflection, planning, and instruction stages.
