My research interests center on PTSD, stress, and anxiety, particularly how individuals respond to uncertainty and future-related concerns. Currently, I am interested in the role of doomscrolling in the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and future anxiety among emerging adults.

Drawing on my experience as a police officer, I study High-Risk occupational stress and emotion regulation at the STAR Lab. Guided by questions that arose in the field, I am focusing on the role of emotion regulation strategies and psychological safety in mitigating burnout among those in high-risk occupations. My goal is to become a clinical psychologist who bridges practice and research.

I have long been interested in understanding psychological suffering not as an isolated symptom, but within the broader context of a person’s experiences, relationships, and environment. This perspective has led me to study trauma, emotion regulation, and psychopathology, with a particular focus on why interpersonal and developmental trauma can lead to very different psychological outcomes. My long-term goal is to connect this understanding to evidence-based assessment and intervention.

Current Research Topics
My current research interests focus on complex and developmental trauma, particularly how trauma memory and emotion regulation contribute to heterogeneous post-traumatic responses such as dissociation and hyperarousal. I am also interested in dimensional approaches to psychopathology and mechanisms underlying recovery from trauma.
My broad interest is in stress and emotion regulation. More specifically, I focus on what happens when people in emotional distress turn to large language models for advice and everyday conversation, and on their clinical implications. I am also curious about how people experience and respond to emotional changes that follow hormonal rhythms, including the menstrual cycle.

I am currently looking at how conversations between people and large language models unfold, and at the trajectory they follow over many turns. As a starting point, I am exploring Korean-language LLM conversation datasets.
