The monthly Yoga sessions for STARC members are as popular as ever, with members of different levels of experience. By attending, you can increase your core strength, balance and flexibility, all vital for running. It's also a fantastic opporuntity to do deep stetches and release those well used muscles and joints. This is a fantatsic session in combinationw with the Strength and Conditioning. Thank you Sam Dickenson, from Firefly Yoga, for running these sessions and making them welcoming and fun. It's £5 a session and we post the dates on the STARC app.
It's been fantastic to see a consistent number of members taking part in the Strength and Conditioning session, led by Rich Martin. These sessions are for all abilities, starting with a short warm-up run and then into the session itself. These sessions run through the focus exercises, focusing on different areas of the bodt, from calves, to glutes, to core and arms. Following the session, Rich then sends weekly exercises to complete 2-3 times a week, keeping the work going until the next eseeion. All of this, from a training Personal Trainer, for just £5. Why not give it a go and start improving your strength and running! Contact Rich is you want to know any additional information.
As a club your welfare is important to us. But what does that mean?
Melanie Nile and Iain Walker are our Welfare Officers.
In terms of physical welfare, we want to make sure events and sessions are safe for all of us. We also recognise that we get injured and want to help runners get back to running safely. Please let us know if you would like support from us in your return to running.
Mental welfare is equally, if not more, important. Many people run to ‘escape’ different stressful aspects of life. Running can be a great way to do this and having others around often helps as well. We want you to know that we are here for you. Of course you may well already have support available but please do reach out if you would like support from the club.
Having Iain as chaplain means that we value spiritual health as well and he is here for people of faith, no faith and all faiths, where confidential or awkward conversations can be engaged in. As Welfare Officers we are here to support wherever we can.
Please feel free to approach us if you have any concerns or just want to ‘chat’.
Product reviews of running gear and race reports can be found on the STARC website, always good for a perusal................

If you have worn your shirt in a country, either for a holiday training run or for an official race, let us know and send us a photo, it is good to see the STARC colour being worn around the world.
Take a look at the map on the STARC website, just click on a shirt to see more details.
Although we share our weekly round ups and events coming up on the Facebook page, we encourage all members to download to STARC app, found on the Stack Team App. This outlines all the running sessions for the month, additional sessions e.g. yoga and strength, run/walk session and lists many races happening around Cornwall. We will continue to share many things on the app and we encourage all members to use this unique club resource.
You can download it here - Stack Team App on the App Store (apple.com) or for Android users https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.teamapp.teamapp&hl=en_GB&pli=1
