While this race event belongs to the Eden Project, STARC supply and organise the marshalling duties for the event. Therefore, we will be asking for members (and potentially family & friends) to assist with assisting on the day. As you can imagine we will need quite a few people.
We have always been very successful in managing this event and have always had good feedback, be proud to represent your club!
Although November may seem like a long way away, we’re now exploring club captains for winter 2024 and into 2025.
In November, Jo will step up from Ladies’ Vice-Captain to Captain leaving a vacancy for a new Ladies’ Vice-Captain.
With some last-minute changes in October 2023, our best laid plans were scuppered meaning that we don’t currently have a Men’s Vice-Captain with James jumping straight to Captain so there’s a spot for a men’s vice too!
What do the captains do?
Between the captains, we ensure the smooth day-to-day running of the club and its activities.
We create the monthly rotas to decide what we’ll do each night and that we have as many group leaders as we can.
We arrive a little bit earlier than everyone else to unlock the rugby club, welcome new members and to let everyone know what they’re doing. We’ll also share weekly information on Facebook and the STARC App too.
How much time will this take up?
If we return to a team of four captains, we’d expect you to open and speak at a club night twice in a month. This could change based on availability, but not by much.
You’ll need to create every fourth rota (so three per year).
Where possible, we'd love for you to join our monthly committee meetings lasting just over an hour where you’ll report back on the team and help to shape the club’s future.
Sound good?
If this sounds like something that you’d be interested in, please chat to Jo, Gwen or James when you next see them.
We’ll consider all candidates and an announcement of the next captains will be shared at our AGM in November.
Remember. Our club relies on volunteers. The more that we put in, the more that we get out of it.
We hope to speak to a few of you soon.
