On October 6, 2024, the youth of Saint Anthony’s Parish visited the Missionaries of Charity Mother Teresa’s Home for the Dying Destitute on Tadiwala Road, Pune. The group, comprising about 30 people, included Father Sheelan, Sister Asha Mary, and Sister Remy, who played a key role in organizing this heartwarming visit. The group arrived at the home at 11:00 a.m. and was warmly welcomed by the caretaker. To begin, the youth took a moment to greet the elderly residents with a cheerful "Good Morning" and introduced themselves. This helped ease the atmosphere, making everyone feel comfortable and engaged. The youth then performed two lovely songs: _“Bade Achhe Lagte Hai”_ and _“Showers of Blessings.”_ Neil played the guitar while Mercy accompanied on the violin. The music session reached its peak with a solo violin performance by Mercy, leaving everyone deeply moved by her talent. To energize the gathering further, James played some lively tunes on his Bluetooth speaker, encouraging everyone to dance. The elderly residents were thrilled to hear popular and familiar songs, with many eagerly joining in the dancing. Youth members Anoushka, Ryan, and Rafaela were particularly enthusiastic, helping the elderly get involved in the fun. After the dance, the caretaker invited everyone to sit down as lunch was about to be served. The youth assisted by serving food and even feeding some of the elderly residents, engaging in heartfelt conversations. These discussions allowed the young visitors to connect and learn from the life stories of the elderly. As a token of love and appreciation, the youth presented a donation of food supplies to the home, which was received with great joy and gratitude by the residents. The visit concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks delivered by Aaron. In his speech, Aaron expressed deep gratitude to Father Sheelin and Sister Remy for their unwavering support and guidance in organizing this memorable visit. He also thanked them for their generous contributions to the home, which brought immense happiness to the elderly residents. The group then took a commemorative photo to capture the joy of the day. This visit was a beautiful reminder of the power of compassion and service. It was a day filled with love, laughter, and unforgettable connections, leaving a lasting impact on both the youth and the elderly.
