Meet the Cal Poly students behind the project working every day to produce shows and content for younger generations to come.
Michaela is a fourth-year Theatre major, and dance minor at Cal Poly. She has worked on numerous TYA shows in the past, though this will be my first devised one. She loves teaching kids dance and theatre and hopes you all enjoy our show!
Natalie is a fourth-year Journalism major with minors in MAST and Theatre. She grew up doing musical theatre and has since turned her attention towards competition dance. She is our marketing lead for Staging Change creating the website, graphics, and promotional content. She hopes this project will be a fun and creative way for the younger generation to start thinking about real-world topics.
Jordan is a fourth-year Experience Industry Management major. She’s had the opportunity to be a part of acting, managing, designing, and constructing roles since middle school. She’s serving as our Design Lead and Stage Manager for our show. She’s excited to bring this show to a young audience as an approachable but truthful presentation of fast fashion and its impacts.
Jenna is a third-year Theatre Major at Cal Poly. Growing up in the entertainment industry, her goal is to excite, uplift, and nurture the next generation of thinkers through Staging Change. Jenna is the Production Manager and Assistant Director to Dr. Wong and has been collaborating with her and Phillip Valle as a teacher’s assistant for Cal Poly’s Introduction to Theatre course.
Theo is a fourth-year theater student. He's been involved in little bits of our production all over the place, including the mountain design, the monster design, and educational elements. He's super excited to have helped get the show off the ground and see where it goes!
Hi! I'm a second-year child development major with a minor in theatre. I've been participating in theatre since I was four years old. As a child development major, I'm helping to make sure our show is age-appropriate and keeps the kiddos engaged. I am so excited for you to see it!
Ellery Repass is a freshman at Cal Poly, earning her B.A. in Theatre Arts. Ellery has performed in over 20 shows, but this is her first time devising and creating a show. Her favorite aspect of devising this show was working on the music and songwriting, but she has enjoyed this entire process and working with everyone so much!
Nina Hernandez is a third-year Theatre Arts major at Cal Poly. She loves working behind the scenes and has worked on The Lightning Thief, Working, and Somewhere: A Primer for the End of Days. She worked on costume designs for this show and is very excited about this production, as it is her first time working on a TYA show!
Elisa is a fourth-year theatre arts major. She's so excited to be a part of this TYA piece. Elise loves providing theatre for kids and thinks it’s a super important form of art that we should keep using for them to learn about important world issues in a fun way. Loose Threads is such a fun play and she hopes you enjoy the show!
Millie Harrison has been performing on stage for 14 years, ever since they were five years old. They are a second-year Theater Arts major working on script editing and production design for the show! Millie has directed kids in theater and worked as a summer camp counselor! They are excited to tour the show to schools because environmental science is very important to them.
Amani is a first-year Theatre Arts major and has been involved in theatre since 3rd grade, but has loved performing for her whole life! Amani is working towards her career of becoming a theatre teacher, and she is extremely passionate about climate change and caring for the environment-- so this experience has been a dream come true. She hopes you enjoy the show!
Kennedy is a Theater Major at Cal Poly. She is so excited to be in a theater production that is sharing the importance of taking care of our planet. She's been involved in theater since she was very young and is always excited to perform!
Ella is a third-year Theatre Arts major and Women and Gender Studies minor. She's been acting in shows since she was 7 years old, and loved participating in theatre clubs at school. She hopes to inspire kids to take an active role in saving the environment, and to be aware of how their actions can have a large impact in the world around them.
Colin is a third-year studying Theater at Calpoly. He designed the soundscape for the show and will play sounds and some underscoring for the show. You may even hear his voice from behind the piano! He hopes you enjoy the show!
Joelle is a third-year Theatre major with minors in sales and women and gender studies. She has done theatre since she was a freshman in high school. One of her most recent roles was in Cal Poly’s production of The Lightning Thief as Sally Jackson! She is so excited to be able to be a part of this show and spread positive messaging to young children!
Lucie is a third-year Theatre Arts major at Cal Poly. She is grateful to have been involved in this creative process of constructing a show for young audiences, an incredible experience full of collaboration. Creating material for young audiences is important because storytelling sparks ideas and opens conversations to curious and impressionable young minds, the minds of our future. She looks forward to performing the show soon, and hopes our young audiences enjoy and learn something new!
Sof is a first-year Theatre Arts major, who has loved performing since they were in preschool, but discovered a love of backstage production in high school. Now, they hope to go into Costume Design or Stage Management professionally. They love getting to share the joy of live theater and the wonderful message of this show with all the kiddos!
Bennett is a third-year at Cal Poly studying Electrical Engineering, but often enjoys participating in many different performing arts in his spare time. He is an active member of choir, theatre, and ballroom dancing. Bennett is so thankful to everyone involved with the production and hopes you enjoy the show!
