Science Fair (optional)

Science Fair projects are extra curricular and will not be taught or completed in class. If you are interested in completing one, I'm happy to give you additional information.


County Science Fair Important Dates:

  • Ventura County Science Fair: March


To Register for the VC science fair, you will need the following information:

  • Advisor name: Katie Wilsker

  • School Address: 1002 Doubletree Rd; Oak Park, CA 91377

  • Abstract pre-approved by me

  • Project Category needs to be chosen

  • Project title

Once you register you must:

  1. Print a copy of the Honesty Policy & Participation Form, available here: http://www.vcoe.org/Portals/VcssoPortals/sc/Science%20Fair%20Permission%20and%20Compliance%20Agreement.pdf

  2. Have the Honesty Policy & Participation Form signed by all of the required people

  3. Mail or drop off the Honesty Policy & Participation Form along with the student fee to:

    • Ventura County Science Fair C/O John E. Tarkany 5189 Verdugo Way; Camarillo, CA 93012

    • The Honesty Policy & Participation Form and payment must be received by our office to complete your Science Fair Project Registration.

  9. Sample Science Fair Packet (please note my adjustment notes below) :

    • No page number on title page

    • Use a table to organize your table of contents

    • Title page: can be in color, everything else black and white (other than pictures you may insert)

    • Statement of purpose: your question can be separately written from your paragraph

    • Research: be sure to let me know where your sources came from (i.e. According to Smith, "...")

    • Hypothesis: I determined from my research.... If I ______, then _____ will happen.

    • Procedure: can be written as just 1,2,3,4.... it doesn't need to have the 1a, b, c....It's up to you, but it MUST be written in outline format with numbers.

    • Bibliography: APA or MLA format, please remove the carrots (<>)

  • Please note that these directions are for Mac Excel 2011 format. Working with an older version of Office should be almost the same, but there will be more drop down menus and they'll be found in different places. It's still the same idea.
