Pear Season began, quite simply, with the Keifer pear tree in my backyard. This old tree has been a steady presence, dropping fruit each summer in a familiar rhythm. This year, its branches were so heavy with pears that a few even snapped under the weight—a quiet reminder of both abundance and loss.
On my morning walks, I’d pick up fallen pears, noticing the contrast between their rough, mottled skin and their curving forms. They started accumulating on my kitchen counters, then slowly made their way into my studio, where they quickly became my primary muse. Their shifting colors—green deepening into warm golds, with the occasional soft blush—caught the light in the most beautiful ways, especially in the golden hour. I found the interplay of color, light, and texture in these simple fruits endlessly inspiring.
This series is the result of that fascination. The pears are imperfect, full of character, and utterly themselves. Through watercolor, I sought to capture their presence—the way they glow in certain light, the weight they carry, and the elegance they hold in even their most ordinary moments.
