BECOMING A CATHOLIC

Parishes welcome new members into the Catholic Church through a process of education, faith sharing, and rituals known as the Order of Christian Initiation for Adults (OCIA/C). This process includes several stages marked by prayer, study, and discussion. Included in the process are several rites, which take place within the context of the Mass.

May I become a catholic if baptized in another faith?

• if an individual is baptized with the proper form in another faith, they may make a PROFESSION OF FAITH to enter the Catholic Church. If interested, please see Deacon Roy.

Who is welcome to begin the OCIA/C journey?

• All non baptized persons who interested in discerning their personal experience of faith and to learning more about the Catholic Church.

What does the OCIA/C process involve?

• The OCAI/C process is all about growth and change taking place in our hearts and minds so that we can more fully live in relationship with God and each other.

• It is about deepening our faith and exploring what belief in God means for our lives.

• It is about becoming a living, breathing, and active disciple of Christ as a full member of the catholic church.

How do I get started?

Contact Deacon Roy or the Faith Formation Director, to set up an initial meeting. The complete process will be explained and tailored where possible on personal circumstances.
