THE HISTORY OF

ST. FRANCIS NHS

It's Background and History

St. Francis National High School is one of the public secondary high schools in Limay. It is located in St. Francis II, Limay, Bataan, Philippines. The school is named after St. Francis of Assisi, a Catholic saint known for his compassion and love for animals and nature. This reflects the school's commitment to developing students academically, morally, spiritually, and socially.

Limay Municipal Council, headed by Honorable Mayor Lilvir B. Roque and Honorable Vice Mayor Eufemia R. Roxas, and the Chairman of the Committee on Education Edgardo S. Cortez, initiated to establish an extension of secondary high school to help the students and parents of Barangay Saint Francis I and II. Limay National High School is already congested, accepting enrollment from the entire Barangay of Limay. Saint Francis students and parents experienced problems with regard to daily allowances going to Limay NHS because they have no options since there is no secondary school in their place. On the other hand, the school has an increasing percentage of dropouts, mostly from St. Francis I and II residents whose parents cannot support their daily allowances for food and transportation. The Municipal Mayor, with his strong desire to help the people of Limay, especially the Barangay St. Francis I and II residents, pursued the establishment of ST. FRANCIS NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL. He designated Mrs. Aurea G. Parbo as Limay Education Coordinator and entrusted to her the processing of the permit necessary for its operation. Education Program Supervisor Francisco B. Bautista and the Schools Division Superintendent, Tarcila P. Javier, assisted and helped in the preparation of documents and endorsement to the DepED Regional Director for the approval of the school permit. Dr. Isabelita M. Borres, CESO III, signed and approved the license under Govt on May 26, 2014. Permit PHS No.S-106, S-2014.

Saint Francis NHS, with the designated OIC Principal, Mrs. Thelma O. Zulueta, upon acquisition of the permit to operate as a secondary high school, informed parents and students who are already enrolled in Limay NHS that they were about to transfer to the newly established school, the former school site and building of Bacong Elementary School, because elementary had moved to a new location and facility. Saint Francis NHS formally started on JULY 15, 2014, with 428 students, two-grade year levels, grade 7 consisting of 4 sections and grade 8 also four sections and ten teaching staff. After a month, two teachers were added to its teaching force. The following are the first teaching staff of SFNHS, Mark Joseph P. Dominguez, Marvin B.  Hernandez, Ryan P. Marquez, Arvin P. Rodrigo, Maileen B. Mallari, Kristina E. Leodones, Myleen O. Benoman, Sharon D. Reyes, Ruth G. Retiro, Tina E. Tiangco, Enerwiladith M. Roxas, and Minerva J. Areja.

St. Francis National High School is a vibrant and dynamic educational institution with a remarkable transformation in recent years. Founded as a small school in a modest area, it has grown into a sprawling institution with state-of-the-art facilities and a reputation for excellence.

The journey of St. Francis National High School from a small area to a big school has been a remarkable one. The school began with just a handful of classrooms and a small student body. However, thanks to the dedication and hard work of Mam Jenelyn E. Sibayan, School Head of SFNHS, the school has grown significantly and moved to larger area. Today, it boasts a large campus with modern facilities, including a well-stocked library, ICT Room, science labs, sports facilities, and a cookery room.

The school offers a wide range of academic programs from Junior High School (JHS) to Senior High School (SHS), including the General Academic Strand (GAS). It also offers various technical-vocational courses such as Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) and Home Economics (HE) to prepare its students for the workforce after graduation.

Aside from academic excellence, SFNHS is known for its vital sports programs. The school has produced several athletes who have excelled in various regional sports competitions. SFNHS also has a vibrant student government organization that helps students develop leadership skills and participate in multiple community service projects.

Despite its growth and success, St. Francis National High School has remained committed to providing quality education to all students, regardless of their background or socio-economic status. The school has a diverse student body, with students from different regions of the country and various cultural backgrounds. The faculty and staff of the school work tirelessly to ensure that all students receive the support and guidance they need to succeed academically and personally.

As St. Francis National High School continues to grow and evolve, it remains committed to its values of academic excellence, inclusivity, and community. The school has come a long way from its humble beginnings, but its dedication to providing quality education to all students remains as strong as ever.
