PCUSA GENERAL ASSEMBLY – Pastor Julie will be traveling to Milwaukee, WI to attend the 227th General Assembly of the PCUSA, June 27-July 3. Our Presbytery Leader, Rev. Dr. Frances Lin, is standing for Co-Moderator with Rev. Sean Chow of San Diego Presbytery. Julie will be helping to campaign for, and support their run for this important leadership role of our denomination. She will also be observing the proceedings and be able to give us a first-hand view of decisions made. Thank you for your prayers for her and the GA business that week. If you want to follow along with info you can log onto https://pcusa.org/about-pcusa/church-structure/general-assembly/general-assembly-gathering .
CHRISTMAS IN JULY - We are collecting financial donations to help provide playground equipment and supplies for our mission partners, Zeteo Missions in the Philippines. Please write "Zeteo" in the memo section of your check or Zelle giving. Thank you for your donations!
JULY LUNCH BUNCH – Ladies you are invited to gather at Cathy Neiderkorn's house in South Indio for lunch and conversation on Monday, July 13, at noon. This lunch will be a "salad potluck" so everyone is asked to bring your favorite to share. Drinks and desserts will be provided. Please RSVP to Pastor Julie for address and gate information. Hope to see you there!
SUMMER IN THE CONFESSIONS – This summer, Pastor Julie will be exploring ideas from the PCUSA Historic Confessions of Faith in occasional sermons. Our denomination is known as a "confessional church," meaning we hold to the truths of both Scripture, and the historic witness of the Church as affirmed in 11 confessional statements. These are: The Apostles's Creed, The Nicene Creed, The Scots Confession, The Heidelberg Catechism, The Second Helvetic Confession, The Westminster Confession of Faith, The Shorter and Larger Catechisms, The Theological Declaration of Barmen, The Confession of 1967, and the Belhar Confession.
If you want some "light reading" this summer, (!!) you might like to look at these as we study them over June, July, and August. There are copies available in the Library, or you can read them online for a free download to a laptop at: https://pcusa.org/resource/book-confessions
DEACON'S FUND – Many people are struggling with the basics of food and shelter. Here at St. Andrew, we try to help both our members and our neighbors through our Deacon’s Fund. We buy gas, and grocery cards to give to people knocking on our office door asking for help, and to assist our members with a small financial gift if they have an unexpected need. The Deacon’s Fund comes solely from contributions from our church family. If you’re able, please help in serving our church and community in this special way. Contributions should include “Deacon’s Fund” in the memo. Thank you!
ONGOING COLLECT FOR ST. JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH: We will continue monthly to collect protein items for St. John's Episcopal Church's community food distribution program. The collection box will remain in the Narthex for your donations of canned meats, beans and peanut butter, and the committee will bring the donations we receive to St. John. If you would like the help with packing food for the St. John’s Episcopal Church Ministry, this happens on the fourth Thursday of every month from 1-3 pm, at 45319 Deglet Noor St, Indio. Thank you for helping our neighbors.
DONATIONS TO OUR CHURCH: The Bank of America has a new policy stating that all checks must be made out to our correct business name. When making a donation to our church in the form of a check, you must now write: St. Andrew Community Presbyterian Church. No abbreviations or other forms of our name will be allowed. To avoid this, we recommend that you make donations through Zelle using our finance email: standrewfinance1@gmail.com. You could also set up Bill Pay through your bank but be sure to use the full name of the church as seen above. Vanco is another option, but keep in mind that Vanco removes 2% of every donation before we receive it. Thank you for your understanding.
DID YOU KNOW WE HAVE ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICES? – Assisted listening devices are available to help in Worship. Joe Hamner has them at the back table if you would like to use a set.
