JOIN US FOR WORSHIP SERVICE SUNDAYS AT 9:30 A.M.
MOTHER'S DAY – Today we mark Mother’s Day. We wish love and blessings upon all mothers, and those who have been like a mother to their family and friends.
UPCOMING PASTORS – Pastor Julie will be celebrating her 65th birthday with friends on a cruise in Greece over the next three weeks, 5/7—5/29. You will be in good hands each week with our guest preachers!
Today, May 10th, Elder Ken Zanca will help lead worship and preach. His sermon is titled, “The Motherhood of God” using the text of Genesis 1: 26-27. Ken has served as the Elder for Christian Education and on Personnel Committee in his 9 years here.
May 17th, Rev. Dave Jewett will be preaching for you. Dave is a PCUSA minister and has been teaching Band at La Quinta High School for the last 7 years. He and his wife Kim (also a teacher) have raised their children here and now have two more under their wings! Please extend a warm welcome to this familiar friend of St. Andrew.
May 24th, Rev. R. Winston Presnall will be preaching on Pentecost Sunday. He is recently retired from 1st Presbyterian Church of Orange after a long career in ministry, and in March became a member of Riverside Presbytery. He may be familiar to some as he was a featured speaker here 2020, and was pastor to Ken Zanca before he joined St. Andrew. He and his wife Pam reside in Temecula.
Please extend warm welcomes to all of them. Pastor Julie will return to the pulpit on Sunday May 31 for our “Music Appreciation Sunday” celebration.
IN MEMORIAM – We are saddened to share the passing of Barbara Park, a longtime and much-loved member of the St. Andrew Church family. Barbara was also a faithful part of the Community Bible Study, which met every Thursday morning for many years, here at St. Andrew. She will be remembered for her warm heart, friendly spirit, and the kindness she shared with so many. We take comfort knowing that Barbara is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Thomas, who was from Scotland and passed away in 2024 ago after a long illness. A Celebration of Life will be held: Tuesday, May 12 at 11 a.m. at Grace Chapel, 48395 Madison St., Indio 92201.
UPCOMING C.E. CLASS – In May the CE Committee will be offering a 3-week class beginning May 17th, focusing on the topic of Christian Justice. It will be offering a "book club" format each week on the book, "What If Jesus Was Serious About Justice?" by Skye Jethani. He is a pastor, speaker and podcaster with an accessible writing style. Led by Bill Moss and team. There will be a few pre-paid books available soon or you can get your own copy on Amazon to begin reading ahead on this timely topic.
DEACON'S FUND – Many people are struggling with the basics of food and shelter. Here at St. Andrew, we try to help both our members and our neighbors through our Deacon’s Fund. We buy gas, and grocery cards to give to people knocking on our office door asking for help, and to assist our members with a small financial gift if they have an unexpected need. The Deacon’s Fund comes solely from contributions from our church family. If you’re able, please help in serving our church and community in this special way. Contributions should include “Deacon’s Fund” in the memo. Thank you!
THANK YOU – For your support of the PCUSA One Great Hour of Sharing offering, as we have collected $1,750.00 which will be sent this week. The gifts go towards world projects that help with hunger, poverty, climate change, and immigration/migration and refugees, and serves individuals and communities in need. Well done, St. Andrew church!
ONGOING COLLECT FOR ST. JOHN'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH: We will continue monthly to collect protein items for St. John's Episcopal Church's community food distribution program. The collection box will remain in the Narthex for your donations of canned meats, beans and peanut butter, and the committee will bring the donations we receive to St. John. If you would like the help with packing food for the St. John’s Episcopal Church Ministry, this happens on the fourth Thursday of every month from 1-3 pm, at 45319 Deglet Noor St, Indio. Thank you for helping our neighbors.
DONATIONS TO OUR CHURCH: The Bank of America has a new policy stating that all checks must be made out to our correct business name. When making a donation to our church in the form of a check, you must now write: St. Andrew Community Presbyterian Church. No abbreviations or other forms of our name will be allowed. To avoid this, we recommend that you make donations through Zelle using our finance email: standrewfinance1@gmail.com. You could also set up Bill Pay through your bank but be sure to use the full name of the church as seen above. Vanco is another option, but keep in mind that Vanco removes 2% of every donation before we receive it. Thank you for your understanding.
DID YOU KNOW WE HAVE ASSISTED LISTENING DEVICES? – Assisted listening devices are available to help in Worship. Joe Hamner has them at the back table if you would like to use a set.
