Synopsis

Introduction to thermodynamics concepts, first law of thermodynamics, Mass and energy balances in closed and open systems, volumetric properties of pure fluids, heat effects, humidity charts, second law of thermodynamics, entropy, Computer applications to thermodynamics problems, power cycles. 

Course Objectives

The objective of this course is to provide an understanding and ability to solve problems of:

1. the fundamental concepts and definitions of thermodynamics

2. the first and second law of thermodynamics

3. the principle of mass and energy balances in closed and open loops

4. the volumetric properties of pure fluids, heat effects and application of humidity charts

5. the concepts of entropy and computer applications to thermodynamics problems
