The Supreme Secondary Learner Government (SSLG) is the official student government organization for learners in public and private secondary schools in the Philippines, as mandated by the Department of Education (DepED). It is the highest democratic representative body for students at the secondary level. The SSLG, along with the Supreme Elementary Learner Government (SELG), falls under the revised Learner Government Program (LGP), which replaced the former Student Government Program (SGP). The SSLG is established to institutionalize learner participation in school governance and develop students into effective, patriotic, and responsible leaders.
The primary objectives of the SSLG are to:
1. Establish Learner Representation: Provide a formal, effective, and unified channel for learners to voice their opinions, suggestions, grievances, and concerns regarding their rights and welfare in the school community.
2. Develop Servant-Leaders: Foster the values and competencies of responsible servant-leadership, participatory democracy, collaboration, unity, accountability, and efficiency among students.
3. Promote Holistic Development: Initiate student-led programs and activities (academic, socio-civic, and leadership) that contribute to the learners' overall physical, moral, spiritual, intellectual, and social well-being.
4. Uphold DepED Ideals: Support and promote the ideals, principles, thrusts, and objectives of the SSLG, the school, and the Department of Education.

The authority of the SSLG is primarily established through DepED Orders, notably DepED Order No. 47, s. 2014 (The Constitution and By-Laws of the Supreme Pupil Government and Supreme Student Government, which later transitioned to SELG/SSLG through subsequent interim guidelines).
1. Shared School Governance: The SSLG ensures the application of shared governance principles, allowing learners to be involved in the effective and efficient management of the school, aligning with the School-Based Management (SBM) framework.
2. Citizenry Training: The program serves as a practical venue for students to develop their skills in democracy, ethical leadership, and good governance through fair and honest election processes (monitored by the Learner Government Commission on Elections and Appointments - LG COMEA).
3. Welfare Promotion: SSLG officers are tasked to be the forefront advocates for the students’ rights and welfare, ensuring a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating learning environment.
4. Community Service: They are expected to initiate and lead socio-civic and community-oriented programs, promoting values like volunteerism, patriotism, and nationalism (e.g., participation in Brigada Eskwela and environmental initiatives).
By fulfilling these roles, the SSLG contributes meaningfully to the realization of the DepED's mission to protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality basic education.
We dream of Filipinos who passionately love their country and whose values and competencies enable them to realize their full potential and contribute meaningfully to building the nation.
As a learner-centered public institution, the Department of Education continuously improves itself to better serve its stakeholders.
To protect and promote the right of every Filipino to quality, equitable, culture-based, and complete basic education where:
Students learn in a child-friendly, gender-sensitive, safe, and motivating environment. Teachers facilitate learning and constantly nurture every learner. Administrators and staff, as stewards of the institution, ensure an enabling and supportive environment for effective learning to happen. Family, community, and other stakeholders are actively engaged and share responsibility for developing life-long learners.
