Parent Checklist: Band and Orchestra

1. Complete the registration form.
2. Reserve an instrument by August 15: You may complete a rental agreement online.

Please have a representative from the store deliver the instrument to the school.

Additional Items:

lesson book: can be purchased on the rental form.
Measures of Success, Book 1 for your child's instrument including Division and Caroline percussion.
Dorothy Nolan, Greenfield, Geyser and Lake percussion- Breeze Easy Method Book 1

Baritone: Please make order the Bass Clef book.

For Orchestra Students

Additional Items:

lesson book: can be purchased on the rental form.
String Basics Book 1 for your child’s instrument

Violinists and violists: basic sponge shoulder rest/purple pad or equivalent. Some companies include it with rental; other companies may charge extra for it- please check the rental agreement.

Cellists: cello anchor/rock stop

Stringed Instrument Sizing:

If your child is in school, we can measure them there.

If your child is average size for a 4th grader:

1/2 size violin, 13"/jr viola, 1/2 size cello, 1/8 size bass (may be 1/4 size if their palm is wide)

Smaller:

1/4 violin, 12" viola, 1/4 cello or 1/8 bass

If we need to make any adjustments in the fall, many of the rental companies do visit the schools regularly and can easily make an exchange.
