Fairness • Hope • Caring • Self-Reliance • Honesty
Since second grade, I wanted a career that allowed me to make a positive difference in people's lives. As I got older, I realized that teaching combined many of the things I cared about most: helping others, lifelong learning, leadership, storytelling, and serving my community.
History gave me a deeper understanding of the world, and I wanted to help students develop that same appreciation. Every student may not become a historian, but every student will become a citizen, community member, and decision-maker. Social studies helps prepare them for all three.
My teaching philosophy is best described as Contemporary Eclecticism. I believe effective instruction uses a variety of approaches rather than relying on any single educational trend or methodology. Students learn differently, content varies, and classrooms are constantly changing.
My goal is to create engaging, rigorous, and visually appealing learning experiences that help students understand content, think critically, develop independence, and enjoy learning.
