Long Day's Journey into Night by Eugene O'Neill Play Performance
Long Day's Journey into Night by Eugene O'Neill Play Performance
As part of my studio activity, I performed the role of Edmund Tyrone from Long Day’s Journey into Night by Eugene O'Neill. This was my first experience of acting in a dramatic performance, and it turned out to be both exciting and enriching. Playing Edmund allowed me to explore a deeply emotional and introspective character, helping me understand his struggles with illness, family tensions, and existential thoughts in a more personal and practical way.
However, I faced some challenges, especially in memorizing the dialogues. Since it was my first time on stage, retaining long and emotionally intense lines required consistent practice and focus. Despite these difficulties, I gradually gained confidence through rehearsals and was able to perform the role effectively. Overall, this experience enhanced my understanding of drama, improved my confidence, and helped me connect literary study with performance, making it a valuable part of my learning journey.
Final Solutions by Mahesh Dattani Play Performance
For my second studio activity, I performed the role of Aruna in Final Solutions by Mahesh Dattani. Even though I had some prior experience from my first performance, this activity turned out to be more challenging and required greater effort and preparation.
I faced several difficulties during this performance, particularly in remembering dialogues, managing facial expressions, and expressing the emotions of the character effectively. At times, it was difficult to balance all these aspects together on stage. However, through regular practice and rehearsals, I gradually improved my confidence and control over my performance.
Eventually, I was able to fulfil the role successfully. We performed the play at the New Court Hall in our university, which made the experience even more exciting and memorable. This activity helped me enhance my acting skills, especially in emotional expression and stage presence, and contributed significantly to my overall learning experience.
