This email contains information about the 2024 Laurie Comer Classic Volleyball Tournament hosted by St. Joseph Avon Lake CYO. This is an exciting, month-long tournament with games to be held at two venues in Avon Lake (St. Joseph Parish Center and Avon Lake High School, where multiple games will be played simultaneously). Participation in the Comer Classic will provide your teams with the opportunity to elevate their skills and appreciation for the sport in a unique way.
Please share this information with your volleyball coaches, and encourage their early registration.
Registration closes on Monday, August 26. Schedules with dates, times, and locations of matches will be announced via email and on the SportsEngine Tourney app on or before Monday, September 2 at 5:00 p.m. Matches will be played only on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays, with first matches beginning on Friday, September 6.
Please note that, when registering, two payment screens must be completed to ensure successful registration – a “continue to payment” screen, and a “submit for payment via check” screen.
We encourage everyone participating in the Comer Classic to download the SportsEngine Tourney app on your mobile device. It can be found in the app store by searching for “SportsEngine Tourney.” Once you download the app, please follow these instructions to find your team's division, pool, schedule, standings, and brackets:
-Open the SportsEngine Tourney app.
-Click the Magnifying Glass in the upper left-hand corner.
-Click Search for an Event.
-Click Volleyball, Ohio, and September 2024 in the Filters section.
-Click Laurie Comer Classic CYO Volleyball Tournament 2024.
Once in the Laurie Comer Classic CYO Volleyball Tournament 2024:
-Click Find Your Team.
-Scroll through the team list to find your Team (organized by grade, gender, and level).
-Click the #5 Jersey to the right of your Team (it will be highlighted in red once you select it).
-You are all set! Schedules, Standings, and Brackets will update in real time on the app.

We're gearing up for the 2024 LCA volleyball tournament, with divisions for 4th grade, 5th grade, 6th grade gold, 6th grade silver/bronze & 7th grade silver/bronze. Here's the info you need to know...
The tournament will run from September 11th - October 27th (6th & 7th grade brackets will be complete by Oct 4th, to remain in line with CYO's sanctioned event guidelines).
The team registration fee will be $200.
The tournament will be held Monday - Friday, with matches starting on the hour (5:00pm, 6:00pm, 7:00pm, 8:00pm).
Teams will play in a minimum of three matches (two pool play matches, followed by single-elimination, seeded bracket play).
Divisions will be capped at eight teams.
