About the Library
SRR & CVR Government Degree College (A) has a good library with large collection of books including both Reference books and Textbooks. The library is divided into various sections for smooth functioning. Students are encouraged to visit library to read books, magazines, etc., prepare notes, project reports, etc., supporting their learning process.
Vision:
Incorporating latest technology and creating a knowledge hub to support all stakeholders of the College by providing access to the widest possible spectrum of information resources such as digital, online databases, print and non-print materials relevant to the curricular, informational and innovative research needs of the academic community', thus providing the Right Information to the Right User at the Right Time and in the Right Format.
Mission:
Integrating all the existing open-access digitized and digital contents across the globe to provide a single-window access with e-learning facility to different groups of users to serve the dynamic information needs of students and staff so as to support them to achieve their highest academic potential and help them acquire research skills necessary for lifelong learning.
Objectives:
To acquire, organize and update library resources and services to support the changing demands of the curricular, instructional, and research programs of the academic community, thus strengthening teaching-learning process.
To establish a computer infrastructure of all library operations and services by acquiring library computer software and hardware to make computerization functional;
To create an atmosphere wherein students and faculty may carry on the learning process enjoyable and motivating them to read beyond their curricular requirements.
To provide instruction and assistance in the effective use of learning resources/services
To work with faculty in integrating information skills ,knowledge of information sources, and the use of technology in accessing information needed to strengthen their instruction, research and extension programmes

Library Sections:
Textbook & Reference Section – All textbooks and reference books are arranged subject-wise in racks and users have open-access to go freely to the racks and select the book whatever they want.
Circulation Section – Books are given for home issue. Students are issued a Bar-coded Library card for using this section.
Reprographic Section – Library has photocopying facilities within premises free of cost.
Internet Section – The internet facility is provided for educational purposes only, free of cost.
Reading Room Section – Books on Competitive Examinations are issued to students for use in the reading room only. in Weekends, books are available for home issue.
Brar Vision: E-Resources Section for Visually Challenged Students – This section has two computers and headphones for assisting the visually challenged students to use computers for accessing online resources on the internet as well as specially designed talking books and e-books.
Periodicals Section – This section houses journals, magazines, newspapers, question paper sets. Students are issued the above materials for reading room use only. This section has open access for students and faculty as well as neighbouring public.
Computerization of the Library:
The library network comprises one server and 2 nodes. The Library uses the SOUL 2.0 Software developed by INFLIBNET. Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) provides access to the bibliographic database. WebOPAC and Mobile OPAC services are offered to facilitate the user community to search the library resources from anywhere and at any time. provided Students are issued bar-coded library cards at the beginning of the academic year. New arrivals are processed, bar-coded and made available for circulation in their respective sections. Books not in regular use, i.e. the passive collection, are being bar-coded in a phased manner. Circulation activities to students as well as staff have been automated.
