This was an introductory course on designing. We learned skills such as concept sketching and worked with Autodesk Fusion 360, with the opportunity to earn certification in the software. We designed various products, from a mouse trap powered toy, to a laser cut arcade design. The major focus of this course was to expose first-time studetns such as myself to the desgin process, research/ analysis, teamwork, communication, engineering standards and technical documentation.
Honors Principles of Engineering
This course exposes students to various concepts that will be encountered in college engineering courses. It is heavily based on math and scientific concepts. Students can investigate high-tech careers and develop skills/understanding of various engineering concepts beyond those from introductory courses. Skills that are developed through the class include problem-solving, research and design , and documentation of work in a professional manner
Computer Integrated Manufacturing
Students in this course learn how things are made, and the methods and processes used in fabricating productions, from the ideation to the creation of successful products. Students learn various manufacturing methods such as 3D printing, laser cutting/ engraving, and CNC machining to prototype designs. Beyond the machines available in class, students explore other similar processes and learn of other manufacturing equipment and systems.
