Hello, my name is Srividhya Chandramouleeswarana nd I’m currently a senior (12th grade) at Dublin High School. I will be attending NYU (New York University) Tandon School of Engineering for Intergrated Design and Media in the fall. I am passionate about combining art with technology in unique ways to bring more diverse stories into mainstream media. Throughout high school, I have worked on these goals through my class choices by choosing my eletive to revolve around engineering and advance art and focusing on advanced physics and math to gain a strong foundation in the principles that will play a large role in my future education.
I fell in love with engineering when watching a documentary series about the creation of Disneyland parks. Their principles of Imagineering were really inspiring as they used their engineering knowledge to produce an artistic piece, a working, moving creation that takes viewers on magical experiences and rides. I was fascinated by the motion of automated figures and the graphics used to create the set for the park rides. I have always had a love for animation, since early on in middle school, I really got into Disney and Pixar and their principles of animation, motion graphics, and storytelling. I started learning these principles through Khan Academy, bought numerous books, and began making my own preliminary animations and cartoon drawings, as well as a class from the Academy of Art University on the fundamentals of animation. Throughout my freshman year, I dabbled in coding and quite enjoyed the ability to create functions using commands in Python and successfully coded a cup pong game with turtle graphics. Between my sophomore and junior year, I took classes at Rhode Island School of Design as a participant in the Advanced Online Program, where I took intensive classes on drawing, design, and concentrating animation.
I was a part of the Dublin Engineering and Design Academy's Mentorship Program, where I worked intensively with my mentor who happened to work at Pixar to find better opportunities to further my goals. I also gained skills in networking, resume building, and pitching. In addition, as a part of the academy, I have also taken the design pathway to get certified in CAD software, specifically Autodesk Fusion 360.
I am an extremely hardworking and passionate individual. I am someone who has always been passionate about integration, from my personality trying to combine my Indian heritage and American environment, to combine my creative and analytic self through pursuing both art and engineering. I am also a very ambitious individual who has worked hard to open various business ventures, from an Etsy to a Redbubble store, even expanding to a handmade jewelry business that circulates within my school. I have been learning Bharatanatyam, an Indian classical art form for the past 13 years and am pursuing a second solo debut performance in India after being the first graduation performance of my dance school. I have completed my diploma and am currently pursuing additional certification in Bharatnatyam through the University of Silicon Andhra. I have begun a passion project where I use my art to share the stories of diverse and passionate individuals at my own school and share themn on every platform I have. I love learning, which is why i am going to NYU, a place where I ahve the resources to pursue dance, art, and engineering in a busy city wrought with opportunity. I have exhibited perserverence through the advanced classes I have taken and with the 5 AP (advanced palcement) classes I have under my belt i have earned a 5 on all exams. Even now, I integrate pars of myself by making my senior year AP Art portfolio about my journey with bharatanatyam.
Animation and Imagineering require creativity, innovation, and passion, and I am confident that I have these qualities to achieve my dreams.
