School Counseling Office
A Message from Heidi Leavitt, Counseling Director
The SRHS School Counseling program is an essential part of the educational process for students. This program is designed to meet students’ needs by helping them define and meet expectations in all facets of their lives – academic, social, emotional, and career and post-secondary planning.
Each student will be assigned to a counselor upon entrance to Sanborn Regional High School. Student Counseling activities are conducted on a regular and planned basis with the goal of providing students with experiences to help them grow and to reach their full potential. Counselors provide direct services to students, as well as working with parents, school staff, and members of the community.
Unless otherwise instructed in writing by a parent or guardian, services provided through the School Counseling Office will be provided to all students through self-referral, staff referral, and/or parent referral.

A Message from the School Counseling Team:
We hope you are enjoying your summer!
Once the 2023-2024 school year starts, your counselor may be reaching out to you for a variety of different reasons such as junior college labs, junior/senior check-ins, weekly 504/IEP check-ins, and anything else that may come up.
If you need support outside of school hours, we have included a list of resources (including self-care tips and local resources) that you can access at anytime.
The Three Es
Sanborn Regional Schools believes that planning for graduation starts long before senior year. As early as 6th grade, students in our schools can begin looking at what their future will look like outside of the walls of our district. Which way will they go? Students may select to enroll in further education, seek employment with a company or business, or enlist with a military branch or government agency.

2022-2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey Information for Parents Newsletter
Our school is taking part in the 2023 Youth Risk Behavior Survey (YRBS) sponsored by the New Hampshire Departments of Education and Department of Health and Human Services. The survey will ask about the health behaviors of 9th through 12th grade students. The survey will ask about nutrition, physical activity, injuries, and tobacco, alcohol, and other drug use. It will also ask about sexual behaviors that could lead to pregnancy and sexually transmitted infections, including HIV.
The data the district receives is invaluable to us as a community. It informs decisions on how we educate our students about their wellness, and creates supportive elements within the school to ensure that student safety and health concerns are being met and adjusted to those needs. By taking part in this survey, the district is made eligible for grant money to support the Mental Health needs of our students.
Doing this survey will cause little or no risk to your child. The only potential risk is that some students might find certain questions to be sensitive. The survey has been designed to protect your child’s privacy. Students will not put their names on the survey.
Also, no school or student will ever be mentioned by name in a report of the results. For the survey results to be accurate, it is important that all students, regardless of whether they have engaged in health risk behaviors, are given an opportunity to participate in the survey, but the survey is voluntary. No action will be taken against the school, you, or your child if your child does not take the survey. Students may skip any questions they do not wish to answer. In addition, students may stop taking the survey at any point without penalty.
We have posted the 2023 NH YRBS Questionnaire here, as well on the Counseling website.
