Welcome back to Follow Me today is all about Alabama in this article you will read about the adventures I had in Alabama. I hope you enjoy them as much as I did.
USS Alabama is a big warship it carried normally a crew of 2,500 men. The USS Alabama shot down 22 enemy planes. The warship carried 6,427 people that served the warship.
When your on the USS Alabama there are three tours the first tour is the red tour. The red tour has a bakery(3), Machine Shop(4) and you can see the crews gallery. There is also a theater room that has interviews with people that were on the USS Alabama. If return form where you entered (crew's berthing area) and you go down a staircase you can see the crew's mess area, You can also see the crew's Butcher Shop (26),Ship fitter shop (27), vegetable preparation room (28), garbage disposal room and carpenters room (28).
In green tour you can find the ships bedrooms and captains office, Blacksmiths, CopperSmith, Pipe shops (24). You can also see the Engines and the chapel also the engineering room.
The yellow tour you would go up and the see guns and decks of the ship if you climb up the ladders and follow the yellow arrows you can see the majestic view of the ship. You also can see the officers staterooms (4), Aerological Office And learn about the war ships history. In the deck now you can hide in the places where soldiers once shot from. Once while the were shooting a bullet accidentally went through one of the panels!Other than that the USS never really got hurt.
The USS Drum carried 7 officers and 65 men, and she sunk 15 enemy ships. She earned 12 stars in World War II. When you enter the deck of the submarine find the enter ladder and go into the USS Drum you will first see the gears and the officers bathroom. When you go through the next door openings (called hatches) you can see the officers kitchen, dining room and bedrooms. When you crawl through the next hatch you can see the mens bedroom and kitchen, In the next room is the control station where the gears and steering wheel is. If you climb a hatch in the control station you can see a kaleidoscope but I don't think it works anymore. And if you go down and through the next doorway and back up the staircase you'll go onto deck. Have fun.
The Aircraft Pavilion is another museum that is located by the USS Drum and USS Alabama. The museum has planes from World War I. The Aircraft Pavilion also features a memorial wall that pays tribute to World War I heroes. One of the newest additions to their collection is Marine One, a helicopter used by Presidents Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan and George H. W. Bush. I highly recommend this place it is in Mobile, A
