The Teacher Education Program is a pre-service preparation of professional teachers for the primary and secondary levels of education. Imbued with Christian ideals, professional and ethical values, students are trained to render quality service as teachers.
Teacher Education Program Objectives:
At the end of four years, the graduates will be able to:
1. Gain comprehensive techniques and strategies in teaching-learning process and achieves a technology-driven proficiency in the actual delivery of the learning concepts with dedication, competence and compassion, based on a deep and principled understanding of the diverse types of learners, learning environment, learning process, and the implications of these processes to larger historical, social, cultural and political contexts;
2. Achieve harmonious development of their powers and capabilities; spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional and take every opportunity to continue their professional growth and development to better fulfill their mission as teachers.
Teacher Education Program Outcomes:
1. Articulate and discuss the latest developments in the teaching practices and respond to God’s call in fulfilling the mission of teaching for the growth and Christian formation of the students.
2. Deliver creatively and innovatively the teaching process skills (including curriculum development, lesson planning, materials development, educational assessment and teaching approaches) guided by the tenets of the Ignacian core values where faith-life dimension is faithfully integrated in all lessons.
3. Make periodic evaluation on the effectiveness of utilized approaches to improve students’ academic performance and spiritual growth.
4. Communicate effectively in writing and in oral form using both English and Filipino to fulfill one’s mission as God’s messenger of hope and love to the young generation.
5. Conduct relevant and meaningful researches and utilized findings to improve instructional processes.
6. Monitor student’s progress through various assessment tools, make sound decisions and formulate relevant and innovative interventions to propel them towards becoming productive citizens of heaven and society.
7. Demonstrate cultural awareness to collaborate effectively with intra multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural teams, for a more effective and excellent teaching performance.
8. Exercise responsible citizenship and take pride in being a Filipino, inspired by Ignacian Marian leadership and virtues of honesty, integrity and nationalism.
9. Engage in various types of employment activities and public discourses in response to the needs of communities one serves.
10. Fulfill the professional and ethical requirements of the teaching profession as a Christian educator imbued with the values of faith, service and excellence with a genuine concern for the growth and formation of his/her students;
TEACHER EDUCATION PROGRAM FACULTY LINE-UP
Program Dean
Dr. Balabag studied Master of Arts in Education Major in Educational Management at the Xavier Ateneo Institute for Development of Education Administrators. She finished her doctorate degree in School Management at Cagayan de Oro College - PHINMA in March 2014. She has been an educator and formator for more than 35 years already. She currently teaches Professional Education subjects. Outside school, she is a devout lay associate of Sta. Rita de Cascia Parish.
Godilla Abejaron, LPT, M.A
Mrs. Abejaron finished Master of Arts in Filipino at Capitol University, Cagayan de Oro City. With more than 30 years of molding minds and touching hearts, Ma'am Goding grows even more enthusiastic and passionate in teaching. She teaches major in Filipino subjects.
Sean Renee Duay, LPT, M.A
Mr. Duay graduated from Xavier Ateneo School of Education with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education Major in Special Education. In March 2020, he finished Master of Arts in Education Major in Communication Disorder at the University of the Visayas, Cebu City.
Rina Lorraine D. Cagas,
LPT, M.A.Ed.
Ms. Cagas earned her bachelor's degree from St. Rita's College of Balingasag and pursued her Masters of Arts in Education Major in Teaching English Communication Arts from Lourdes College. She is handling major subjects such as Linguistics 1 and 3, English Language Teaching subjects, and the like.
Lalaine Gamolo, LPT, M.A.
Ms. Gamolo finished Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at Central Mindanao University. In March 2019, she earned a degree in Master of Science in Teaching Science Major in Chemistry from University of Science and Technology of the Southern Philippines. She teaches major in Science subjects.
Kim Jaudian, LPT
Ms. Jaudian took Bachelor of Arts in English at Mindanao State University - Iligan Institute of Technology. She is pursuing a master's degree in Teaching English as Second Language at the University of Science and Technology of the Southern Philippines. She teaches Contemporary World, Literature and Journalism.
Iron Kim Javier, LPT
Mr. Javier is a graduate of St. Rita's College of Balingasag. His great mathematics skills made him to be one of the top-caliber instructors of the Program. He is handling Mathematics subjects.
Loraine Jo, LPT
Ms. Jo finished Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in English at St. Rita's College of Balingasag. She is currently taking up Master of Arts in Education Major in Teaching English Communication Arts at Xavier Ateneo School of Education. She teaches Creative Writing and Literature subjects.
