ScanText PDF ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our mobile application ScanText PDF (the "App").
We believe in absolute data privacy. All document scanning, processing, and storage are performed locally on your device.
Document Scanning & OCR: The App uses on-device Google ML Kit Vision APIs to scan documents and extract text. Your physical documents, scans, and extracted text never leave your device and are never sent to external servers.
Offline Translation: Translation features are executed entirely on-device using locally downloaded Google ML Kit translation models.
PDF Editing & Signing: Adding password protection, digital signatures, and PDF compression are processed entirely offline on your mobile device.
Local Database: Any folders, document metadata, or saved PDFs are stored locally inside the App's secure private sandbox directory (SQLite/Room Database).
To provide core scanner features, the App may request access to the following hardware/software on your device:
Camera Permission: Required to capture document pages and Goverment ID cards for dual-sided scanning.
Storage Access: Used only for exporting, saving, or sharing generated PDF files to your device's local memory.
The App utilizes Google Play Services (specifically Google ML Kit) to power OCR, scanning, and translation functionalities. These services operate under Google's Privacy Policy. No personal document data is shared with Google or any other third-party servers.
Since all data is stored locally on your device:
Your files are protected by the Android Operating System's sandbox security guidelines.
If you apply Password Protection to a PDF, it uses 128-bit encryption directly on your device.
Important: If you delete the App, all local database records and scanned documents stored within the App's private folder will be permanently deleted unless you have exported them to your external downloads folder.
Our App does not collect any personal data and is safe for use by individuals of all ages. We do not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children.
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. You are advised to review this policy periodically for any changes. Changes to this Privacy Policy are effective when they are posted on this page.
