Hi! My name is David Sceggel and this is a website I use to help teachers implement Comprehensible Input (CI) strategies in their programs. I currently teach Spanish 1 and 4 at Illinois Valley Community high school in Chillicothe, IL. I have been teaching with CI since 2010 when I watched Blaine Ray and a few other language teachers in the audience with me create a story in German involving Lady Gaga and a large cow.
I grew up in Peoria, IL and graduated from Illinois State University in Normal, IL with a Technology Education degree. My teaching career has had many twists and turns, and I have lived and taught in three different countries. I have traveled to 23 different countries. In 2009, I married my wife, and we now have two children. We have lived in Chillicothe, IL since 2010. I love teaching Spanish and researching second language acquisition.
Schedule an observation! I have had countless teachers come and see the wonders of a CI program over the years. Contact me at dsceggel@ivcshools.com and we can schedule an observation and even cater that observation to the activity you would like to see done in context.
