Civil Air Patrol is a military organization and as such we have a promotion and professional education system. Our promotion system is directly tied to our professional education system. Our professional education system is broken down into levels, with each level coordinating with a specific rank. The first rank in our system is Second Lieutenant. In order to promote to Second Lieutenant you must complete Level I and Level II Part 1 and serve six months as a Senior Member.
But what is Level I, you may ask? Level I is your foundation and orientation with the Civil Air Patrol. The majority of the level one training is completed through our online learning program called AXIS. To find your training modules, follow these steps bellow.
Step 1: Log into eServices.
Step 2: Select "Menu"
Step 3: Select "Learning Management System" under the "Online Learning" Tab
Step 4: Select the "Go To AXIS" box at the top of the page.
Step 5a: (if this is your first time logging in to AXIS, there will be a tutorial.) Complete the tutorial.
Step 5b: Select "LEVEL 1 TRAINING"
Step 6: You must enroll in a course to start it. Once you enroll in a class you will be given the option to begin the course then, or return to the screen. All enrolled courses will appear on the "MAIN PORTAL" tab. We Suggest you start with the Cadet Protection Basic Course because you must complete it within 60 days of joining, or you will not be allowed to participate until it is complete. (You do not need to take Operational and Cyber Security again as you were required to take it when you first registered for eServices. To make sure you have credit for this course, visit our How to Check My Progress page.)
Once you have finished everything required of you in Level 1, you can begin wearing the USAF style uniforms and continue on to Level II Part 1.
