Karigar Mela loosely translates to the festival of artisans. To try and give opportunities to people who have skills, we have decided to host the festival, to encourage artisans to display their products. In the past year, Amani and I (Aditri Z) were working on our service as action project called "Sprout", which enables artisans, as due to the COVID 19 pandemic, they had lost a lot of business and we wanted to connect them to an audience. Sprout is a virtual gallery which accommodates Indian artists and gives them a platform to display their work. We already had a good number of artisans on Sprout and hoped that by creating this as a task force we could grow the number and make Sprout a school wide project, which would help increase the artisans' visibility. Hence the idea of the Karigar Mela was introduced.
Multiple teams were created to smoothly organise the work for the upcoming mela.
