Purpose
Week 2/27 and 3/6 Deliverables are dedicated to finishing the construction of the box and filling it with sediment. Wood continued to be drilled together, the slope supports were constructed, and the sealant was placed on the seams of all four boxes. Sediment was then placed within the boxes based on the dimensions outlined in semester one. The sand was also tested for pore size, and the hose flow rate was calculated to simulate a 100-year storm in our next deliverable. Images of the different boxes are shown below.

Box #1 is the control box. This box is filled with pea gravel, sand, and the filtration jute bags. This represents the control group without any specific filtration media to know plastic transport. The image on the bottom shows the box with both gravel and sand included. Sand will be replaced when our pool filter sand arrives.

Box #2 is the activated carbon and cotton sediment box. This box is filled with pea gravel, sand, filtration jute bags, cotton, and activated carbon. Sand will be added when our pool filter sand arrives!

Box #3 is the biochar and pine bark sediment box. This box is filled with pea gravel, sand, filtration jute bags, biochar, and pine bark. Sand will be added when our pool filter sand arrives!

Box #4 is the granular limestone box. This box is filled with pea gravel, sand, filtration jute bags, biochar, and granular limestone. Sand and biochar will be added when those materials arrive on Monday 3/9!
