JUNE 11, 2023 · OFSAA TRACK & FIELD CHAMPIONSHIPS · VARSITY T&F
Senior athlete Nathaniel McNeil rocks his St. Peter track singlet for the very last time as he represents the Knights at the BIG LEAGUE: OFSAA Track and Field Championships!! The meet kicked off on Thursday, with some spectacular performances from our fellow athletes from Ottawa. However, McNeil first makes his appearance on Day 3 of competition in the Senior Boy’s 400mH Heats.
He closes in on a terrific performance of 1:01.47s to finish 19th overall, his 2nd FASTEST time of the entire season!! Top 20 in the entire province? Not bad eh! We had the chance to interact with Nate following his last race:
"Bad race, but at least I made it here. Thanks for putting a team together to give me a chance to compete!"
We are so proud of this young man. He shines both on and on the track as both an athlete and a leader. He represented not only himself, not only our school, not only his track club, but our hometown of Ottawa. We are all so proud back at the castle!!
As excited as we all were, it is kind of bittersweet as we say goodbye to a wonderful season! There are so many things to be said, there is so much gratitude to be expressed, and there is so much excitement for the new season.
You give up your time, season after season. Countless hours are spent in practice, at meets, and at the championships. It’s not always easy. Sometimes patience is tested, and sometimes constant reminders are needed. Hanging around the track on early mornings, or during late evenings may not be your ideal way to spend your free time, but you're there with a smile on your face. You brave the unknown of the sport through injuries, mishaps, lost singlets, errors, and more. Having you on the sideline, cheering, helping, and supporting makes all the difference. You have a front row seat to wins, and losses. You're there, and watch everyone grow, and learn to persevere. It sometimes gets intense, but you stick around. For all that you are, and all that you do, we would like to say:
THANK YOU.
1000x THANK YOU!!
Our hearts are full and we are oh so grateful! See you all in the Fall!
