Every year, the Castle unites for our Annual Athletic Banquet as we celebrate, recognize, and award the many accomplishments, and performances of Knights athletes, coaches, and supporters at this year’s. Curious about our awards? Check them out below!
Athletic Banquet Awards
The Coach’s Award is presented to an athlete who exemplifies both dedication and perseverance both on, and off the court or field. This athlete illustrates their devotion to the team in practices, games, and through their willingness to learn, and develop as an athlete.
The Most Valuable Player is presented to the athlete who has demonstrated exceptional athletic ability, and tremendous skill. This athlete illustrates determination, and leadership through dedication to the team, and their sport.
The Seb Auclair Teammate Award honours former Student Athlete Seb Auclair who was a multi-sport athlete, and an ideal teammate who exemplifies selfless play and commitment as well as dedication to his team. It is awarded to the athlete who has a positive influence on their team, exemplifies leadership as well as sportsmanship, and is respectful, reliable and supportive of others.
In 2002, St. Peter lost a great teacher, coach, mentor and friend. This year, as in past years, we acknowledge Mr. Gallant’s dedication, motivation and inspiration, and present the Bing Gallant Award to the graduating male and female athletes who best exemplify the spirit, leadership and inspiration of Mr. Gallant.
The Bronze Level Athlete Award is presented to athletes who accumulate at least 8 points over their HS career. Every sports team awards 0. 5-2 points to athletes.
The Silver Level Athlete Award is presented to athletes who have accumulated at least 16 points over their HS career. Every sports team awards 0. 5-2 points to athletes.
The 12 Sports Award is presented to graduating athletes who, from grades 9 through 12, have played at least 12 sports at St. Peter! This feat is not easy to accomplish as the demands of school, jobs and social life increase with each grade!
Ms. Kerwin, former Athletic Director, coach and teacher at St. Peter for 21 years, retired in 2014, and in her honor, an award was created. The Sheila Kerwin Leadership Award is presented to a senior athlete, who is a leader by example and who epitomizes Ms. Kerwin’s values and character, who is not necessarily the most valuable player or most improved player on a team, who exemplifies the Catholic Graduate Expectations, who contributes to their teams on or off the court or field and in their community, who is dedicated to wellness by all forms of training, and be the best for themselves and those around them, and who are devoted, positive and caring individuals, not just athletes.
The Rookie of the Year Award is presented to one male and one female athlete in grade 9, who participated the most, and who were strong contributors for their teams.
The Junior Athlete of the Year Award, and the Senior Athlete of the Year Award are presented to a panel of coaches, who then vote based on the following factors:
Points received based on MVP Awards, MVP Nominations, Coaches Awards and participation throughout the school year
Outstanding performance and true athleticism in their given sport(s)
Leadership demonstrated on and off the playing surface
Coachability and willingness to develop as an athlete
Ambassadorship for St. Peter, (showing respect to teammates, coaches, opponents and officials)

The Rookie of the Year Award is presented to a first year player (not limited to freshman) who participated the most, and who was a strong contributor to their team.
The Most Valuable Player is presented to the athlete who has demonstrated exceptional athletic ability, and tremendous skill. This athlete illustrates determination, and leadership through dedication to the team, and their sport.
The Most Improved Player Award is given to the athlete who made the most strides in development during the season and/or off-season.
The Comeback Athlete of the Year Award is awarded to the athlete who has shown perseverance in overcoming adversity in the form of not being on the team the previous year or in the form of injury, or simply lesser performance while on the team.
The Team Sportsmanship Award is presented to the athlete that has displayed fairness, respect, honesty, selflessness, and respect through their conduct on and off the court through interactions with teammates and fellow competitors.
The Student Leadership Award recognizes innovative and outstanding achievement in the planning, presentation and leadinf of a program by a student.
The True Sport Award is presented to the athlete who exemplifies True Sport Principles (go for it, play fair, respect others, keep it fun, stay healthy, include everyone, give back).
The Knight's Blue Heart Award is presented to the athlete who has the courage to embrace the possibilities of others potential and strives to take the team to the top. This athlete embodies the awards above, displays promising skills in the sport of track & field, has skills as a leader that shine throughout the entirety of the season, has a defining vision of and continues to raise the banner of excellence, displays grace and humility to others, and honours the athletic contract through and through.
