MAY 26, 2023 · NCSSAA CITY CHAMPIONSHIPS · VARSITY T&F
The road to the OFSAA Track & Field Championships is well underway as the Knights conclude their 2nd meet of the season. Despite less than ideal weather conditions on our first day of competition, our athletes paid no respect to our record book as they came crashing down one by one on the 2 day long event.
On day 1, junior athlete Rowyn Serne took down the previous 200m Dash record held by OFSAA medalist Vienna Courteau. Serne clocked a beautiful 27.17s to claim a new junior record as well as a 4th place finish. However, this young athlete wasn't finished just yet. The following day, she once again destroyed the 400m Dash record, only this time, it was her OWN record set only 8 DAYS PRIOR. Serne's time of 1:06.00s earns her a second Junior Record and a 5th place ranking.
Senior athlete Nathaniel McNeil keeps his promise as he smashed his previous 110mH record. McNeil storms his way to a new School Record and Senior Record with his excellent time of 16.65s. This record secures his 2nd slot at next week's East Regional Championship.
In just her FIRST-EVER varsity season with the Knights, junior athlete Madilyn Nichol made herself known as the new Junior 100m Dash Record Holder. Nichol broke the previous record held by OFSAA qualifier Franckie Cobby with an impressive time of 13.20s. This beautiful performance is more than enough to ensure a spot at next week's competition.
As if these individual records weren't enough, 2 of our relay teams claimed new School Records in the Open 4x400m Relay. The female quartet of Anna Rioux, Ainsley Connolly, Madison Lamarche and Danika Timothée started things off as they soared to new heights with a final time of 4:43.90s. This time breaks the record that was previously held strong for 6 YEARS. Quick to follow suit were the boys. The team of Nathaniel McNeil, Emmanuel Kabongi, Leonardo Bernal and Augustine Uche came together and crossed the line in a remarkable time of 3:50.68s, their 2ND TIME beating the record in 1 WEEK.
Adding to these record-breaking performances, 2 athletes once again soared to a podium finish:

Jaida Courteau takes home another 1st place title in the Senior Girl's High Jump with a mark of 1.42m *CHAMPION*
Nathaniel McNeil wins himself 1st place in the Senior Boy's 400mH with a time of 1:02.16s
