Senior Athlete Jaida Courteau SOARS to an East Conference Title in the Sr. Girl's High Jump Division of competition

Wednesday, May 17th marked the beginning of the Varsity Competitive Season as our athletes lit up the track at the NCSSAA East Conference Meet. This year's event featured many familiar faces, as well as several debut performances from the castle. With a number of Knights in action, five in particular stood out among the team as they combined to set a total of 6 school and divisional records between them.
Senior athlete Heather McGarrie was responsible for our first record of the day. During the early hours of competition, McGarrie clocked an impressive mark of 10:56.17s in the Open Girl's 2000m Steeplechase Division of Competition. As the FIRST EVER St. Peter's athlete to compete in this discipline, she seals herself a spot on our record board.
Following suit was junior athlete Augustine Uche who despite competing in the 100mH for the first time set an impressive school and divisional record of 16.26s in his age division. Uche finishes 3rd overall to secure a spot in next week's city championship.
Once again, over on the men's side, senior athlete Nathaniel McNeil concludes the morning portion of the East Conference meet with a brand new school and divisional record in the 110mH with a mark of 17.87s. As if this wasn't enough, McNeil proceeds to secure an EAST CONFERENCE TITLE and SECOND School Record of the day in the Senior Boy's 400mH. He crosses the line in a time of 1:01.64s to secure his spot at next week's competition.
Out on the field, first year senior athlete Jaida Courteau serves it up on the high jump apron has she reclaims her EAST CONFERENCE TITLE in the Girl's High Jump Division of the competition. Courteau soars above 1.50m to win herself a new senior record and a guaranteed city slot.
Rounding out list of record breakers is junior athlete Rowyn Serene. Serne blazes to a 3rd place finish in the 400m dash with a mark of 1:06.53s. This time clocks a brand new junior record, breaking Danielle Taylor's previous 9 YEAR OLD title.

Augustine Uche grabs the first top 3 finish of the day in the Junior Boy's 100mH with a time of 16.26s.
Rowyn Serne storms her way to a 3rd place finish in the Junior Girl's 200m Dash with a time of 28.26s.
Madilyn Nichol picks up a 2nd place finish in the Junior Girl's 100m Dash with a time of 13.65s.
Rowyn Serne picks up her second top 3 finish with a 3rd place title in the Junior Girl's 400m Dash with a time of 1:06.53s.

The NCSSAA City Championships kick off next Wednesday, May 24th & Thursday, May 25th, and we’d like to congratulate our 27 Varsity Athletes who will represent St. Peter’s Catholic High School against school’s from all over Ottawa.
